There is cause for celebration at Australian specialist distributor, Madison Technologies this year as it celebrates twenty-five years of operation. An idea sparked from a change in the telecommunications industry has morphed into a stalwart of Australia’s communications distribution industry, employing over 100 people across Australia and New Zealand.
David Redfern, Managing Director and owner of Madison Technologies, said about the milestone, “It feels like it’s all coming together. The last year has been a momentous year for us. As well as reaching twenty-five years, we have built and opened our flagship head office in Murarrie, launched a sales & distribution hub in New Zealand, and we’ve been presented with the “Fearless” Supplier Award by nbnTM for a Madison designed innovation.”
“Reaching twenty-five years is more than a milestone for us. The people in the business have grown with me and contributed enormously. We’ve built something that is a testament to Australian innovation,” continued David. “I’m lucky to have been surrounded by great people – some of whom have worked beside me for over 20 years, to build this company.”
The Madison story began in 1991, when the Australian telecommunications industry was deregulated. Brisbane businessman, David Redfern identified an opportunity to introduce new products and technologies to a market that had previously been closed. Madison Technologies was born.
The first product Madison introduced was a device used in the USA for network terminations. By 1995, Madison had been successful in securing the first ever contract with Telstra for Network Termination Devices for its cable TV network.
Strategic acquisitions in the 2000s; including communications brand, Garland Cables and industrial networking company Paqworx; and distribution partnerships with Broadcast cabling specialist Belden, contributed greatly to the expansion of Madison Technologies and transformed the company into a high value, specialist distribution company that uniquely offered converged solutions for Australian industries and conditions.
“Of course, we wouldn’t be anywhere without our customers and our suppliers, the companies that have partnered with and grown with us. We’ve worked with some amazing and inspiring companies to build Australia’s largest infrastructure projects,” continued David.
“Ultimately, we’ve been fortunate to have all the opportunities we’ve had. A milestone like this is a good time to take stock, appreciate what we now have, and to positions ourselves to take advantage of in to whatever the future brings.” finished David Redfern.
