The Mobotix M12 has two integrated image sensors. Depending on the illuminationlevel, the camera automatically selects the colour image sensor with daylight lens or the more light sensitiveB/W night image sensor with IR lens to record the images.

The resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels is about 30 times as high as the CIF images from an analogcamera. In VGA (640 x 480) and CIF (320 x 240) mode, the camera provides up to 4x zoom whilecreating minimal network load (MxPEG: approx. 1 Mbps, CIF 25 fps). Bidirectional audio, video motiondetection and a passive IR sensor are also integrated. The Ethernet, ISDN and RS232 interfaces of thecamera comply with current IT standards, including GSM/GPRS/UMTS (3G).

Digital zoom, panning, video motion detection, event-controlled frame rates and freely selectable imagesections reduce the storage requirements of the M12 to a minimum. The integrated camera softwarefeatures include alarm management with pre- and post-alarm images, FTP, e-mail, external ring bufferstorage on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X computers as well as playback and MultiView functions forup to 40 cameras in the browser. Since the camera does not require additional heating (operatingtemp. -30 to +60C, -20 to +140F), power can be supplied via the network.
