Introduction

Lynx DSS is designed for simple use in industrial applications, from the robust DIN rail clip solution to the configurable fault contact and the industrial level dual power inputs. Installations in harsh environments and places with heavy electrical interference require the use of a reliable media, therefore a number of fibre optic transceiver are available as accessories to Lynx DSS.

Lynx DSS is a device server, available in two versions, powered by the Westermo WeOS network operating system. Lynx DSS is the most compact and has the lowest power requirements in this class of device servers. Lynx DSS has 4 x 10/100 Mbit/s ports in addition to 2 ports which can be fitted with Gbit or 100 Mbit SFP transceivers. One of the two serial ports is configured for the RS-232, the other one can be configured for RS-232 or RS-422/485. Unique Fast Recovery of Network Topology (FRNT) technology is the fastest protocol on the market to re-configure a network in the event of any link or hadrware failure.

Only industrial grade components are used giving the Lynx DSS an MTBF of 500.000 hours and ensures a long service life. A wide operating temperature range -40 to +70⁰C (-40 to +158⁰F) can be achieved with no moving parts or cooling holes in the case. Lynx DSS has been tested both by Westermo and external test houses to meet many EMC, isolation, vibration and shock standards, all to the highest levels suitable for heavy industrial environments and rail trackside application.

WeOS (Westermo Operating System) has been developed by Westermo to offer cross platform and future proof solutions. WeOS can deliver unique IP security functionality for this class of product, in legacy IP solutions, supporting Modbus Gateway, virtual COM, modem replacement or several options in dual TCP applications. Remote secure access to a network can be provided using encrypted VPNs.
