GARRETTCOM MAGNUM 12KX LAYER 3 SWITCH

Magnum 12KX Layer 3 Switch - The Magnum 12KX is the first Gigabit-only switch from Garrettcom, with 16 combo ports for copper and/or fibre ports.

Introduction

With Layer 3 switching capability, the 12KX will more rapidly route large amounts of data in applications using complex networking techniques such as VLANs or multicast routing strategies.

The GarrettCom Magnum 12KX Gigabit Managed Switch can be easily integrated with other Magnum products such as the 10ETS Managed Terminal Servers to create industrial networks including features such as precision time synchronisation, high-availability Layer 2 and Layer 3 devices, serial and Ethernet connectivity, and routing flexibility such as full wire-speed IPV4 RIP (Routing Information Protocol) or OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) protocol.

The Magnum 12KX Switch is substation hardened, allowing it to withstand extreme industrial environments with high EMI, extended temperature ranges (from -40˚C to 85˚C) and significant atmospheric contamination. The Magnum 12KX Switch has a non-blocking switching fabric to provide wire-speed performance on all ports, optional single or dual internal power supplies and the option to configure four ports for PoE. The 12KX Switch is synchronised via SNTP or IEEE 188 v2 precision timing, which ensures within 30ns accuracy on all ports.

Application

The GarrettCom Magnum 12KX Gigabit Switch is suitable for applications such as power utilities, transportation and heavy industry, and surveillance and security. The ability to serve as a smart grid backbone switch to aggregate the increasingly large amounts of data generated by AMR (automated metre reading) and demand response suits power utilities. Surveillance and security applications can leverage the 12KXs Gb performance, PoE option, long-distance fibre connectivity options and multicast routing and management protocols such as IGMP and Access Control Lists to aggregate large amounts of streaming video traffic.
