Madison wins $1million Communications Infrastructure Provision Contract for Airport Link
4 May, 2011
Australian owned and operated Madison Technologies was awarded a $1 million contract from the Thiess John Holland and United Group joint venture (the MEFT Alliance) to provide custom manufactured low voltage copper cable and fibre optic cable for Airport Link, the second largest infrastructure project Brisbane has seen. The cable product delivered will provide reliable backbone communications network infrastructure between the two end points of the 5.1km tunnel length.
The mainly underground toll road planned between Brisbane’s northern suburbs, the airport and the inner city will be connected via an infrastructure network of low voltage copper cable and custom made fibre optic cable. Single-mode and multi-mode fibre optic cables supplied were manufactured in Australia to meet the MEFT Alliance specifications. The fibre cable has an additional layer of glass composite armour and a LSZH sheath which provides a significantly increased tensile strength, rodent resistance and a degree of flame retardance. This speciality fibre cable will transmit control and telecommunications services across the network.
It is estimated that the Airport Link Tunnel will be finished by the projected completion date of 30th June, 2012.
